PLEASE NOTE
The Butler area is divided between Carter and Johnson counties. There are a number of streets that have the same name and GPS can not determine between them. Also, Verizon is the only cell service that covers this area. The other carriers are not reliable in this mountainous area. |
Dogwood Springs Ranch is located in the northeast corner of Tennessee in the Appalachian Mountains. We are just 5 miles northeast of Butler, TN and Watagua Lake, of Hwy 67.

From Hwy I-26 - Johnson City, TN |

Exit Hwy I-26 at the Exit 24, Hwy 67 East, toward Elizabethton and Mountain City

Follow the Hwy 67 signs through Elizabethton. You have to make some turns at stop lights

After you go through Elizabethton you will come to Hampton, Hwy 67 makes a left turn after McDonalds and just before the Shell station.

Stay on Hwy 67 to Butler / Mountain City.
(DO NOT take the turn off to go to Boone, NC !).

Continue on Hwy 67. After you cross the bridge, over Watuaga Lake, you will go up the hill. At the top of the hill you will enter into Johnson County and down the hill into Bulter

TO TRAIL HEAD
(Directions to the Advance trail head location will be given when you book your trail ride.)

Continue on Hwy 67, past the Farmers State Bank, and go 2.6 miles to Pine Orchard Rd.

Turn Left onto Pine Orchard. Go 1.5 miles.

Turn Left onto Moreland and turn into Iron Mountiain Inn's driveway (a very short distance). See The "Trail Rides" Sign.

Drive past the Horse Trailer and park on the left, on the shoulder were the Trail Rides Parking sign is located.

9.5 miles from the Shell Station in Hampton to Butler - Farmers State Bank.

From the junction of Hwy 421 and Hwy 67, Rite-Aid, Take Hwy 67 West toward Johnson City, TN.
PLEASE NOTE:
If you are using a GPS from Mountain City, Tn to Pine Orchard Rd. DO NOT USE A GPS. Your GPS will take you on some back roads and lengthen you drive. STAY ON HWY 67 and go past the Dollar General Store. You willl go up a hill. Pine Orchard Rd. is 1.5 miles on the left AFTER the Dollar General.

Continue on Hwy 67 approximately 13 miles from the Rit Aid. You will go past Dollar General store on the left). Look for the Mile Marker 4 (mile markers have white numbers on a green background on a 4' post.)
Pine Orchard Rd. is approx.1+ miles on the left AFTER the Dollar General.
